While mostly filler at the beginning, though well written, I really liked the fishing village and the nature of their trade with the merfolk and elves. It actually reminds me of a fishing village in South America where dolphins herd fish into the fishermen’s nets, then stay in the cove and wait for the fishermen to give the dolphins their cut. The way this tribe is set up actually gives me some inspiration for one of my stories. I’m also digging the life of peace on this elf island. Also, without reading ahead, I’m guessing Nyiella doesn’t make it back home.
