My next story is likely to be a fairly short non-Felaryan one, appearing only on the Portal. (I say "likely" because, although I've already got it planned out, these things tend to change with my mood...)
After that, though, I'm thinking of writing a sort of continuation to "Practical ethics" (fav.me/d6bpfol). The basic premise would be as follows: a learned woman of some sort from the Fairy Kingdom hears about Shelny's ethical views, and suggests a semi-formal debate to her on the ethics of eating people. Shelny accepts. They discuss the issue with an audience present (in the jungle, where Shelny is rooted, of course), and their debate is also broadcast through the dryad network to any dryads who are interested.
This is where you, dear readers, come in if you want to. The audience will be encouraged to participate by asking questions, to either participant. So, if you would like one (or more!) of your characters to be in the audience, simply say so here, and indicate what question you would like that character to ask. (If you don't have a specific character in mind but you do have a question, put your question anyway, and I can have a random anonymous audience member ask it.) (I reserve the right to alter the phrasing of a question slightly so as to make it fit in more smoothly, if necessary.)
Over to you!
Edit:
- The fairy will of course be arguing that it's not wrong to eat people, while Shelny argues that it is.
- The audience is likely to be composed almost entirely of members of large predator species. After all, for smaller species, the problem is reaching Shelny without being eaten along the way...
Marissa Q and A
Marissa Lawrence is an Olympic speed skater from St Kitts and Nevis, the first Caribbean athlete to compete at the Winter Olympic Games, and a talented vore competitor with a big appetite! She was silver medallist at the women's 1,000 metres at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, and bronze trophy winner at the 2028 women's IVC world final in Seoul, eating 45 people. She lives in Old Road Town on the island of St Kitts, but spends much of her time in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where she trains for speed skating with a Canadian coach and among Canadian athletes. When not training, they've invented the rather daring sport of iceminton (badminton on ice), which they play together. And... that's about all we know about her so far. So let's flesh her out a bit as she answers your questions! She appears in particular in these stories: And superfineconfection has made this lovely IA image of her:
A feel-good read
Last week-end I adopted a puppy, and although she's a ray of joy in my life, she requires near-constant attention, which hasn't left me much time for writing. So in the meantime (and while she's sitting beside me chewing her own tail), I thought I'd plug the novel The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, by Becky Chambers. I first discovered Becky Chambers when I read To Be Taught, If Fortunate, which left me with a mostly pleasant melancholy glow. I decided to read another of her books, and I'm glad I did. Long Way is sci-fi, of sorts, but... different, in tone and in substance, to what any other author is writing. The simplest way to describe it is that it's feel-good fiction. I enjoyed reading it, I looked forward to getting back into it every evening before going to sleep, and I was sorry when it was finished. What I mean by "feel-good fiction" is that the main characters, by and large, have empathy, try to do the right thing (even if they disagree about what the right thing
New Year
To start the new year off perfectly, superfineconfection has been creating AI portraits of the IVC girls! A big thanks for that; they look great! You can see them here: https://www.deviantart.com/superfineconfection This is Caramel, for example. Doesn't she look sweet, peppy and edible! ;) And it'll certainly be a good new year for Mêl: I've posted the first part in the story where she's finally swallowed and digested up. We'll be visiting other characters too, and going to Abena's wedding. After that, I'd rather like to return to Felarya for one story (at least). The thing is, I'm just not really sure what Milly, Tinatalan and Ciel could get up to during their girl trip south of Shard River. If some of you have ideas, please let me know! Last we saw them, they were following the riverbank in an upstream direction, from a starting point across the river from Safe Harbour. This would take them into the stretch of forest between the Ascarlin mountains and the river, and towards
Little-known TIE pilot story
I've recently discovered a published collection of short Star Wars stories that are each written from the point of view of a background character from The Empire Strikes Back. Now, the collection as a whole is rather flat, formulaic and unoriginal. I didn't even bother to finish reading it. But the short story "Amara Kel's rules for TIE pilot survival (probably)", by one Django Wexler, stood out. Tales told from the perspective of TIE pilots (especially female ones) are extraordinarily rare, and this one is rather fun! I obviously can't post the whole thing, but here are a few extracts: "Don’t get attached to your squadmates. Eat with them, drink with them, play sabacc with them, sleep with them if it suits your fancy. But don’t get attached, because then one day they’ll do something stupid, and then you’ll do something stupid, and then it’s a couple of fireballs and some Imperial morale officer sending your family a plastoid medal and a heartfelt note. And it probably gets lost in

Ohay, I found it! :3 I don't suppose it's too late to submit, even though the story's already up? I'm dying to get my OCs questions out there in the world, at least, even if they probably won't be answered. X3 I won't post them if you don't want me to, though.
